RÖHRIG granit® has been certified according to the following systems:
Company´s own in-house production inspections
Company´s own in-house production inspections are carried out regularly. Thus, it is guaranteed that in-house manufactured products correspond to authoritative technical regulations. In addition to the company´s own in-house production inspections, an external voluntary product inspection is carried out by the Highway Research Institute of the TU Darmstadt.
Company´s own in-house production inspections include the following:
- Inspection of natural raw materials
- Inspection and monitoring during the manufacturing process, along with the inspection of deposits in mining sites
- Quality control of the finished products within defined time frames at regular intervals, and
- Technical inspections of the facilities
In this way it is guaranteed that our customers get constant top-quality products.
Quality management in accordance with DIN ISO 9001
Quality Management System
On April 28, 1997, the quality management system in accordance with DIN ISO 9001 was implemented. The certification is valid for three years. It is necessary to carry out a control audit once a year. Both technical and commercial department undergo a control audit by respective competent inspectors.
The process control and documentation of all the processes are of paramount importance. On June 23, 2009, the implemented quality management system was re-certified in accordance with a new DIN ISO 9001:2008 standard. With the EMAS Award, the highest European award for environmental protection, on July 14, 2004, the RÖHRIG granit® company is one of the first 15 stone and quarry industry companies in Germany that are granted such an award. The Hesse Environmental Alliance
After granting the Ökoprofit reward which is honored for special performance in the environmental sector, especially for the commitment in the field of energy and in the area of refuse and waste, the RÖHRIG granit® GmbH has become a member of the Hesse Environmental Alliance.
"The Hesse Environmental Alliance aims to strengthen personal responsibility on the part of the industry management for the sake of the environment, to polish away unnecessary bureaucracy, and to create more favorable general conditions for conducting business in Hesse than before. At the same time, a high environmental standard should be guaranteed, and the red tape be reduced."
Nature conservation and environmental protection
The RÖHRIG granit® company co-operates with nature and environmental conservation organizations and associations. Between our company and the Darmstadt Regional Administrative Council the nature conservation agreement was concluded. The two quarries, located in Heppenheim, are designated as bird sanctuaries.

Ökoprofit (ecological project for integrated environmental technology)
Following Wiesbaden, the Bergstraße district was the first administrative district in the federal state of Hesse to have launched the ecological project Ökoprofit. During the workshops business enterprises were actively involved in the process of working together. The Environmental Protection Program is designed to show how resources could be used in a more cost-efficient and cost-effective manner as well as more environmentally friendly.
The RÖHRIG granit® GmbH took part in this project aiming to establish a dynamic environmental protection system. Thus, the groundwork for a successful start has been laid. You can view the information with regard to both Ökoprofit projects as a PDF document here:
